AIR SEARCH AND RESCUE NOASARA is a non-profit organization, run completely by volunteers, that assist the Canadian Forces with air search and rescue (Air SAR) operations for missing aircraft, watercraft, and persons. This opportunity is for individuals looking to work with dedicated volunteers, and wanting to take part in on-going training to put their skills and abilities to the ultimate test. NOASARA is looking for Spotters, Navigators, Search Pilots, Ground Search Crews, and Unit Support Team Members. You do not have to be a pilot to join NOASARA. Spotters and Ground Crews are trained with minimal experience necesary. Spotters have to be comfortable flying in small aircraft, and Ground Crew members need outdoor experience. Best Buddies Volunteer Opportunity for students from Lakehead University and Confederation College to participate in a program designed to build friendships between adults with disabilities and students. The expectation of the program is for the buddies to meet regularly and do things together. This could be watching movies, going for coffee etc. Group outings are also a part of this program. 11. Big Bunch Volunteer Thunder Bay Big Brother Big Sister is seeking Volunteers 18+ for our new program Big Bunch. Big Bunch is a great opportunity for volunteers who may not have a long period of time to volunteer, but want to become involved and make a difference in the lives of our littles. This program provides children on the Big Brother Big Sister wait list the opportunity to join in and have fun in a group setting. Twice a month for a period of 4 to 6 months, two adult volunteers will take out a group of 2-4 children and enjoy different types of activities. From skating and sledding in the winter to swimming or hiking in the summer it's a great way for everyone to participate in something they enjoy! 12. Bingo AIDS Thunder Bay holds 5 bingos every quarter (3 month period) at the CLE. They are usually matinees but we occasionally have an evening bingo. Directors: 1. Serve a minimum one year term which begins September 1 of the year in which they are Appointed (or when required and accepted to start) 2. Familiarize self with the Precious Bundles service in order to be able to make informed decisions on behalf of the service. 3. Regularly attend Board meetings and important related meetings (one time per month). 4. Stay informed about committee matters, prepare well for meetings and review and comment on minutes and reports 5. Actively participate in the Precious Bundles Annual Review and Evaluation 6. Individually and collectively, based on their area of expertise and interest, serve as resources for the Precious Bundles volunteers 7. Makes a commitment to participate actively in the work of board committees 8. Participates in fundraising for Precious Bundles as needed 9. Is an ambassador on behalf of Precious Bundles to the community
